How it works on this chain
- Chain

- Address checksum
- EIP-55 mixed case, optional — plain lowercase is valid
Depositing, step by step
- 1
Open Receive in BYCRYPTO and select USDT (ERC20).
- 2
Copy the address, or scan the QR code if you are on a phone. Starts with 0x, 42 characters, hexadecimal.
- 3
In the wallet you are sending from, select ERC20 again. This is the step people skip.
- 4
Send, then keep the transaction ID. Under a minute with a normal fee.
What goes wrong on USDT on ERC20
- Holding USDT but no ETH. Gas is paid in ETH, so a wallet with only USDT cannot move it.
- Setting the fee too low and assuming the transfer failed. It is queued, not lost, and may confirm hours later.
- Sending to an address that is valid on Ethereum but belongs to a different chain's account. The format is shared by several networks, so the format matching proves nothing about the destination.
An Ethereum address is not checksummed the way a Tron one is unless the sender uses EIP-55 mixed case. A mistyped lowercase address can be perfectly valid and belong to nobody, so copy and paste matters more here than anywhere else.
Use ERC20 when the other side only supports it, or when the funds are headed into Ethereum DeFi. Otherwise TRC20 does the same job for a fraction of the cost.
You can follow any transfer yourself on Etherscan, which is the public record for this chain.
