Proton Unlimited and Proton VPN: plans, costs and choosing your digital toolkit

This guide puts Proton Unlimited and Proton VPN side by side using the Bycrypto catalog. The aim is to help you decide what to buy, what to check, and whether one service or a combination fits your needs. It is a catalog-based buying guide, not a hands-on test or an endorsement by either provider.

Catalog snapshot: 2026-10-25. Prices below are standard listed Bycrypto prices in USD, before temporary daily deals. Availability, taxes, regional restrictions and provider conditions can change; the linked product page and checkout show the offer available when you order.

Compare the budget on matching terms

The lowest listed checkout price for Proton Unlimited is $7.53; for Proton VPN it is $5.59. Buying both selected entry plans would total $13.12, before network fees or temporary promotions. These figures compare purchase amounts, not equivalent functionality. A longer billing period or a one-time purchase must not be presented as an interchangeable monthly subscription.

Of these two listed entry offers, Proton VPN has the smaller upfront amount, by $1.94. That difference alone does not establish better value: compare the plan name, covered period, included features and your actual intended use.

Choose by the job you need done

These products are listed in different categories: Antivirus & Passwords and VPN. Treat this as a toolkit planning exercise rather than assuming they replace one another. Define the output you need from each service and the hand-off between them. Buy both only when each has a separate role in your workflow; a bundle of unrelated subscriptions is not automatically a better deal.

A practical pre-purchase checklist

1. Write down the specific task, device and account you will use before choosing a paid tier.
2. Read the selected plan’s highlights and full product description; do not assume features from a different tier are included.
3. Check the period, delivery method and whether an existing account or a separate account is required.
4. Confirm any regional, licensing or account requirements with the provider when the catalog does not specify them.
5. Keep the order reference and use your private account ticket for delivery questions or support.

Paying and managing the order

Bycrypto lists supported payment networks at checkout. Match the asset and network to the destination shown for your order; a similar token name on another chain is not the same payment route. Wallet connection requests account access. A transfer or recurring token allowance is a separate action that must be reviewed in the wallet. Read the amount, recipient, recurrence period and spending cap before approving. This article does not initiate a payment or guarantee a refund.

Review the decision after the first use

Before buying another service or extending a plan, compare what you actually used with the tasks you wrote down. Keep the service that fills a real need, and check cancellation or renewal controls before the next charge. If a feature is essential and not explicitly listed, ask support or the provider first rather than relying on an assumption in a comparison article.
